Seta’s Secrets began in this quaint, but convenient downtown Modesto location, on J Street just off 9th Street over 20 years ago.  Mariam Esho became proprietress in 2003.  Specializing in hands and feet, Mariam offers a variety of pedicures, manicures, arm, hand and foot massages. 

Mariam’s true passion and what she is quickly becoming famous for is “threading hair removal”- an ancient technique that has been practiced in the Cradle of Civilization, Egypt since there has been thread.  Mariam has developed this talent to include her exquisite eyebrow shaping technique.  Clients come from all over California to have the “Brow Guru” thread and shape their brows to perfection.

Recently expanding the operation to include talented Hairstylists and Hair colorists, Mariam will continue to grow to suit her many clients’ necessary beauty needs.

Janelle joins Seta’s Secrets with an extensive background making women feel beautiful.  Especially talented in the art of hair color, Janelle received her training and certification from the Paul Mitchell School in Fresno , California.

Janelle’s passion for hair and make-up began as very small child, as most little girls will, styling her dolls and any family member that would tolerate her attentions.  However, her passion grew and grew until attending school and becoming a professional in the art of beauty was the only choice for her.   Perfecting her craft in salons in Fresno , California , Janelle excels in hair color, precision cuts and manageable styles.  She also enjoys special occasion hair styling, or up-do’s.  As a make-up artist Janelle is creative with a common sense touch that can easily be repeated by her clients.  Or when called upon, Janelle can create a look that is glamorous and alluring.  She features Paul Mitchell products but is also knowledgeable about the latest hair and make-up products, always seeking the best product for a particular client.

Janelle recently relocated to Modesto with her husband, Michael accepted a firefighter’s position.  

Janelle and Michael are happy to live in Modesto where Michael grew up and his family reside.

You could say beauty runs in the family when it comes to Yasamin Latchin.  Owner Mariam Esho’s niece learned the art of threading from the best!  Yasamin combines her hereditary threading ability with a talent for the artistry of hair color and styling.   Recently returning to her hometown, Modesto from San Jose where Yasamin worked in salons to learn more secrets of her trade.

Yasamin’s two big passions, threading and hair styling actually fascinate her historically as well as creatively.  “When I think about the fact that threading has been around for hundreds of years…. That the first threaders probably used silk thread, well that’s cool.  To be part of one of the world’s most ancient traditions, making women beautiful is really cool!”

Besides her career Yasamin also enjoys dancing, family and travel.
